In another month or so we will be receiving our country’s 2024 induced abortion statistics from the Canadian Institute for Health Information. I imagine we will have another over 100,000 little ones, their short lives reduced to statistics, bringing our total number of killings to 5,000,000 since 1969. Just think of it 5 million sons and daughters slaughtered mostly at the behest of their mothers, or so we have been led to believe.

Physicians and medical professionals who know they have two patients to serve during pregnancy, calmly advocating induced abortion to the mother if the child is perceived to be “unwanted”, unplanned or a “surprise”. Fathers, for the most part who just walk away, denying any kind of responsibility for their actions or their expected child. The men who stay, apparently forcing or coercing their partners to undergo induced abortion, against the woman’s own values, according to 60% of the women themselves in a 2024 National study of Canadian women who underwent induced abortion.

A Canadian Government which commits billions of dollars to the killing of its own and other countries’ children before birth by abortion, making a travesty of Canadian celebrations of the “Day of the Child” or indeed celebrating the rights of children, while allowing them to be indiscriminately and barbarously killed before they are born.  Political representatives at all levels supporting the so-called “right to choose”, but the right to choose what? Having your own child killed on request by a medical health professional supposedly sworn to care for each patient, and paid for by government insurance programs, funded by taxpayer dollars. Did any of us really ever believe that abortion would become a billion-dollar industry, not only for the killing it performs but for the sale of the precious bodies it rips apart, to University researchers and more?

If you can possibly imagine that our Criminal Code section 223 defines the “child” in the womb as “not being a human being” and has done for years.  Our government uses a legal fiction to deny the humanity of our tiniest and most vulnerable members of the human family. Science contradicts this fallacy and yet it still remains, providing the loophole through which the slaughter of our preborn sons and daughters goes on ad infinitum. These tiniest of our children are of course dead, but God bless them they are not the only victims of induced abortion, their killing was brutal and is now over, but an overwhelming number of their mothers carry the pain, some stating that the worst is still being played out in the heads and bodies as long as 20 years after their abortion. Study after study relates, higher rates for so many mental and physical health conditions among these women and for the fathers who were never given a chance to save their child, the pain goes on. The what ifs or why didn’t I or the maybe I should have and the most difficult to bear, she told me after the abortion or she didn’t tell me she was pregnant. The thousands of families, missing a son or daughter grandson or granddaughter, nephew or niece, brother or sister, uncle or aunt, but we do not speak about these tiny ones this way.

Dr Laura Lewis noted in her article regarding a 2025 survey of US women who had undergone abortion,

The findings were striking. Women who had experienced an abortion were twice as likely to have attempted suicide compared to other women, especially if they had experienced a coerced or unwanted abortion.

Take a moment and let that sink in.

The research concludes that “Exposure to abortion, especially when the abortion is contrary to the values and preferences of the pregnant women, may contribute to higher rates of suicide attempts, suicidal thoughts, and self-destructive behaviours. These findings should be used to improve both pre-abortion screening and counselling and post-abortion care.[3] I might reiterate that the January 2024 Canadian study commissioned by Alliance for Life Ontario found that 60% of Canadian women who had undergone induced abortion did so against their own values, forced or coerced!! Yet the Canadian medical profession still insists induced abortion is healthcare

In a 2022 memoir “Boundless: An Abortion Doctor Becomes a Mother” Christine Henneburg admits to using different language to describe the child in the womb based on whether the mother wants the child or not, of course the status of the child in the womb does not change, but the little one is distanced from their mother by the language used, as in the case of our society, using blastocyst, embryo or fetus in an effort to exclude this tiny little human being from our family love and protection.

I remember in one class of grade twelves in which I was presenting on induced abortion, I mentioned to the students that of course the basis of our discussion was, with regard to the conflicting rights of the fetus and the gravida. They looked at me in stunned silence, so I stated it again and still no response. So I asked someone to tell me what a fetus was and most were familiar with the term, that it was Latin and meant “little one” and described our human development from 8 weeks until birth and  felt more inclined to say that fetal rights trumped the rights of the what – “gravida” because they were not familiar with a pregnant woman being referred to in Latin language. We had a great discussion after that about how our language can distance us from each other. The rest of the presentation, we all agreed to use common terms for both the preborn child and their mother, it clarified for many of them how we can all sometimes be manipulated, by the words other people use and we repeat.

40 days For Life recently released a map of what it called Forced Abortion Scumbags which illustrates and names of the many men who have forced or tricked their wives or girlfriends into taking abortion pills, we would not be able to show anything like this in Canada, because induced abortion appears to be the only “procedure” where the data is not consider useful enough to report, even if the lack of it places women’s health and possibly their lives at risk.

In the UK a new children’s book written specifically for 6-12 year olds “Let’s Talk About Abortion” has been developed to explain in part, “This book serves as a starting point for discussion, offering parents, educators and caretakers a thoughtful and sensitive tool to approach discussions about abortion. By avoiding the portrayal of “good” or “bad” reasons for seeking an abortion, the authors ensure that all experiences are respected and validated.”

We have to see that this juggernaut, must be stopped and no compromise of our pro-life principle will do it and when the 2024 induced abortion statistics are released, let us remind ourselves, that these numbers represent members of our human family, the most fragile, those who are scared or confused about their situation, both cold-hearted guys who leave, and the bereft men who have lost their children, medical professionals who have ignobled their  profession and a government, political parties and representatives who do not defend every human life. Then of course those of us who will continue to be a voice for every human life, young, old, healthy or not, able-bodied or not, of whatever creed or status until we take our last breath, ever hopeful, ever thankful, ever joyful, and never tiring of fighting this most important fight of all, respect for and legal protection of the right to life of every single human being.
